Ciudad
Cuauhtémoc
is a city
that enjoys
to receive
their
visitors

hospitality

Huastecan

municipal
head of
Pueblo
Viejo, a
municipality
located to
the extreme
north of
Veracruz
State, on
the border
with
Tamaulipas
State.
Originally
the village
was called
San Luis,
founded in
1524 by Fray
Andres de
Olmos, a
religious
Franciscan.
With time
began to
acquire more
importance
changing its
name to
Cuauhtémoc
in 1925, in
honor to the
Aztec
Warrior. The
city emblem
is
represented
by an Aztec
aigrette and
there are
still a
small
percentage
of people
that speak
the original
Nahuatl
tongue.
In the year
of 1980
became
officially a
city, ever
since has
upgraded its
tourist
potential
which its
offered in
La Hermosa
beach,
Pueblo Viejo
lagoon,
Chijol water
channel,
Cachalaco
village and
the Panuco
River. No
one should
leave
without
trying its
gastronomy,
its
delicious
typical food
based on
seafood such
as shrimp,
crabs and
oyster.
Ciudad
Cuauhtémoc
has been a
population
dedicated to
the
agriculture,
cattle, and
the industry
where a
yacht
factory is
distinctive;
nevertheless,
the sources
dedicated to
fishing
industry
have been
growing and
recently the
tourism
also. The
hydraulic
resources or
the
vegetation
jungle style
which lodges
armadillos,
rabbits,
raccoons and
birds, among
others, can
turn it into
an important
potential
tourism.

October the
most
traditional
festivities
of the
municipality
take place.
On October
24th the
Pescador
Fair takes
place, on
honor of San
Rafael,
Patron Saint
of the
Fishermen
and the 26th
the Village
foundation.
The Fusion
of religious
acts with
dances and
fireworks
make this
event
unforgettable.
